Halloween

The week of Halloween Joel's family came up and went to our ward party then we went to Heritage Farms.  They had a lot of fun things to do.  We rode ponies, had a train ride, shot little guns, shot potatoes from a sling shot, and went down a huge slide!

On Halloween we took the kids to lunch and then Trick or Treating around our neighborhood. The kids had a lot of fun. It took forever because at every door Olivia had to explain to everyone that this is my brother Cody, and I love princesses and I watch Cinderella at Grandmas, Do you like my witch hat? She loves to chat with everyone.  That night we put Cody to bed and put a movie on for Olivia. She stayed up with us and LOVED passing out the candy to the trick or treaters. She asked everyone of them, "So whacha be?"
She is planting the leaves :)

We spent the holiday with Joels family this year. Olivia had a lot of anticipation for eating the turkey. We got there bright and early and helped set up. We got out Kaye's china that she bought from ZCMI when she was 15. It is really pretty, and was nice to eat on. The kids had a lot of fun just running around and helping grandma in the kitchen.

Grayson was there too, he was just not in the mood for a picture.  Neither was Cody but he didn't have choice.
I hope Kaye doesn't mind me putting pictures of her up.  She had a nasty accident while she was watching Grayson and Olivia. She had taken them to watch Jared sing.  She was holding both their hands and they wanted to run. Kaye lost her balance and fell.  She landed right on her face. It scared the kids because there was a lot of blood. She bruised her face pretty good and had to get stitches in her lip. luckily she didn't break her nose.  We felt just sick about it.  She is doing much better now.
The newest addition in the family is Kyler. Cody loved seeing the baby.

Happy Birthday to ME!!

For my birthday Joel took me to The Elements restaurant, it was so dang good.  We did a little Christmas shopping which was really exciting to us because that is all we can talk about. WE ARE SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS!!!

So Joel and I were planning on waiting until Cody was three until we started trying again for our third baby.  Heavenly Father had a different plan in mind.  We are expecting baby #3 on June 1, 2013.  We were a little surprised.  I can not believe how sick I have been this time around. I was never really symptomatic with Olivia, and just slightly with Cody.  This one is a whole new ball game.  good luck to me :)

Tree House

The idea has been floating around to build a tree house for awhile now.  I am pretty sure Joel and Landon pressured my mom into actually doing it, but hey, it got done!

It started on Thursday. Mom, Joel, and I each dug 2, 3 foot holes to bury the poles in.  Seriously it was really hard. I cried a little because I was tired and pregnant.  Mom and Joel MAY have picked up my slack :)

Notice the nice weather.

Mom laughed so hard she spit out a tree branch!

Dad came home and helped us wrap up, he was a good burst of energy to our long day! Seriously it took like 5 hours.  We started with a post hole digger but there were to many big rocks so we ended by hand.

Friday night Beau, Landon, Jared, Joel, and Dad built the ladder.  They turned on the space heater, pulled out their tools and got it done.

Saturday the Frankes joined us.  When they got there mom in her generous ways handed out new snow boots to all us girls so we could all be outside and join the fun.  Typical, all the kids had new stuff and mom was out there in her old white boots, and her REALLY old purple boxing gloves. Mom looks fabulous no matter what she is wearing!  Thanks Mom!

Notice the weather now.  yeesh.  I guess it was super memorable, the snow was fun that day, very cold but fun!

The weather warmed up long enough for us to play outside for awhile, build snowmen, and have lunch. Then it got pretty cold. That's about when all the moms threw the wet snow gear in the dryer, put babies down for naps, and little kids in front of the TV.

Dad called it, when the snow wouldn't pack, mom broke out the watering can and started sprinkling the snow so it would role better. Ha

 The Final Project,
for now anyway. There is talk of additions already.

The tree house is everyones birthday present from grandma and grandpa.
Parents left tired, and kids left happy. I think it was a successful project.

Number Three is a BOY!

This was such a crazy day. I had my appointment which went perfect. This baby boy is nice and healthy.  I came home from my appointment and went to get Cody out of the truck and he crawled to the other side so I had to walk around to get him and I slipped and fell HARD on the ice. When I got up to get Cody he locked the door. I was crying and embarrassed.  Needless to say he came straight in with me and took a good long nap.  Later I burned my hand pretty good making dinner and I just cried. I was tired and didn't want to do anything. Instead Olivia and I made cupcakes together. I freshened up my makeup since I cried it all off, and we got the house ready for dad to come home.  She really helped me get through my day. She was very supportive :)

Olivia was pretty set on naming this baby "Olivia."  She is still in denial that it is a boy like Cody.  I was pretty sad it wasn't a girl at first too because I know how crucial sisters are, but I guess I didn't put much thought into Cody having a brother close to his age. I think that Joel has some pretty big plans for these two boys.
If this boy is anything like Cody I will be in luck, but seriously I can not stop him from putting everything in his nose!!!! He knows he is not suppose to do it because he will tell me "no! my nose" and point to it. It is just to tempting for him I guess.
I thought I was going to pull my hair out waiting for Joel to get home so the kids could have a cupcake. They were going nuts. Cody ran around screaming " Candy! Cupcake! Cupcake!"
I was just planning on having peaches and toast for dinner, but when Joel got home he kinda came to my rescue. He fed the kids cupcakes for dinner and put them to bed. He ordered a pizza and told me to go get it. The rest of the night we sat in bed watching our shows and polishing off a Large Papa Johns.

Christmas prelude

I have procrastinated so long writing this post because I wanted it to be perfect, because the whole Christmas Season was so perfect. BUT since I waited so long it is going to be oober short and sweet so that I can keep this blog updated with a baby that is JUST ABOUT HERE!!!!!

We meet my family and all the cousins in Heber and stayed at my Aunt Buffs house and partied. When the kids went to bed the adults played minute to win games and laughed way to hard.  In the morning we went to the Heber Creeper and rode on the Polar Express.  Olivia had been talking about Santa since October. The Christmas spirit was so magical in our home it made me really emotional to see her really light up when Santa visited the train.

Beau took these pictures and Im so glad he did.
Olivia felt real timid at first and as he walked past she raised her hand out to him and shouted " I WANT A CINDERELLA MOVIE!!"

Another weekend we went over to Hoelleins and meet up with all the cousins and did an old fashion christmas tree decorating.  I really loved doing this.  We had christmas movies on for the kids and they ran around and played. The guys kinda hung out, and the aunts and grandma strung pop corn and cranberries for a real tree.  I wish so bad I had some pictures but I don't.

Olivia tried really hard not to be scared of seeing Santa and she did a really good job, she let him know that all she wanted was a cinderella movie.  Notice there is no picture of Cody with him, he was scared, ha.

Joel was able to spend a lot of time during the season home with us. It was so great! We had so much fun as a family.  The snow was so great.  It just piled on us and we loved every inch of it.  Lots of shoveling and four wheeler rides in it.

Sledding down old main. It was scary, seriously.
What a flipping stud. He wasn't happy if he wasn't holding the string for his sled. ha

Happy Birthday Cody

Cody turned two!  He is such a good little boy. I kiss him till he screams basically everyday. seriously, Joel gets mad at me sometimes. I WILL NEVER STOP!

Joel's parents came up unexpectedly in the morning and took us to breakfast. It was so nice to have company that morning.  We came home and all took naps, then my parents unexpectedly came up and had birthday cake with us. It was a lot of fun to see both sets of grandparents.  We ended the night watching Finding Nemo and filling his piggy bank with money.

Cody learned how to get out of his crib this month.  I cant believe it took him so long. I guess I was expecting somewhere closer to like 17 months like Olivia.  I am not complaining though its been nice :)

The first night I put him in his toddler bed he did not get out once, just went straight to bed. He only fell out one time through the night. The next day he took a nap in it, and did not get out.  I was in shock.  I swear it took a year for Olivia to stay on her bed! He doesn't like to get in trouble, Olivia just didn't care , ha ha.

He decided one day he was done with the Bumbo, he now sits on a chair next to Olivia. He is a very clean eater.
We went to Cody's 2 year appointment. He is in the 7th percentile for weight and height. He is my little guy.

Tea Set for Olivia

Olivia has been potty trained for a year now.  I kinda assumed that she would naturally stop peeing at night on her own, but she just hasn't.  So I made her a little chart. We put it on the fridge and every time she woke up dry she got to put a princess sticker in one of the boxes. When she filled all 15 we would find her a special toy. I wasn't sure what she wanted and neither did she.  Pretty soon all she could talk about is tea sets.  So we looked up a whole bunch on line and found the perfect one. At first it was real hit or miss but she pretty soon got the hang of it and has done so so so good.  For a little while there  I really did not think she was going to get this tea set she wanted so bad.  Not going to lie I cried over it just a little, ha ha.

I asked her what she thought was in the mail and she said um a dress? All of her dresses come in the mail and so she thinks the mail man is pretty neat because he brings her such pretty dresses.  One time I got a dress in the mail and she cried and cried because the mail man brought the wrong one, it wasn't her size!

She has told me several times a day, Thank You so much for my tea set.  or,  I am so proud of you and the mail man for getting me this tea set, or my tea set is so great I just love it! Each saying accompanied with hugs and kisses, or the shoulder shrug and smile!
She played all day long with this tea set and in the morning at 6:20 I heard it clanking across the house and she walked into my room and said, My diaper is dry! Would you like a cup of tea my dear?

She loves her tea set, Cody, and playing in the dirt.

Being Lazy

I have been so lazy with my kids, like REALLY lazy.  This pregnancy has been really hard for me. Just the normal pregnancy stuff like not sleeping at all, throwing up, head aches, carpel tunnel, and just not having any energy.  So my days go a little something like this: wake up, eat breakfast with the kids, put a movie on for them and sleep in the rocking chair. Then when the first movie is over i usually am on the phone with Ellie, while the kids beg for a treat so to keep them quiet I get them a treat and start movie number two, and finish my nap in the rocking chair.  Then we have lunch and Cody takes a nap and Olivia has quiet time.  Sometimes with me or by herself.  When they wake up I sit at the table and watch them play outside in the backyard, then bath time, dinner, bed.  Kinda sad but true.

I really have been so blessed.  I can not believe how amazing Cody is to stay on his bed. It literally blows my mind.  Having him take a good nap during the day and go to bed at a good time at night has relieved so much stress from my day.  Olivia entertains herself so well, her imagination is KILLER. She knows that during nap time she has to be quiet. For a little child being quiet is really hard.  I am grateful she helps me so much by being really quiet when she is suppose to.  When Joel is home he is so great to play with them. Thats all they want is play time, so thats what he gives them.  I am so grateful for Joel for being such a good husband.  Joel was put in the bishopric which has been fun actually. He started a new job at P&G.  He will graduate after summer semester.  We are having our third baby this week. wow.

The thing with blogs is they portray for the most part only good.  It can be depressing to read peoples and think how crappy you and your life are compared to them.  Just remember Everyone has issues, sins, and shortcomings. Marriage does not come easy, being a good spouse takes a lot of work and practice. We have our issues. The thing that gets us through them is our testimony. That can be hard because they waver. Thats where all the phone calls come in for me to my sisters and mom, and occasionally when dad answers :)  The theme to all these calls is gratitude lately.  All the sickness is worth it when you have a healthy baby. Having a good attitude through trials builds you. Loving each other helps. I am so grateful for all my blessings.
Cody is so funny. We talk (yell) a lot about not biting each other. When I ask him where Boston is (thinking about that name) he pats my tummy and says I Bite Boston!  He knows it makes me crazy and thinks it is so funny to tease me!
Olivia has been such a sweety when it comes to me being pregnant.   She tells me things like:
I just love your new baby.  I am going to take care of this new baby.  I can't wait for you to have this baby so you won't be sick anymore.
She cries when I throw up.  The names she likes are Jr. and Joel Hoellein.  HA ha we have come a long way from tooter bum.

BEFORE
EVERYTHING factory white.
The pictures do not do the before or after justice. I am not a good photographer, sorry.

I can not even tell you how much I love this picture.  We are really good at sitting on the side lines eating skittles and Dr Pepper while daddy does the heavy lifting.
Joel did all the work himself except the texture on the walls and ceiling.  The same guy helped hang the doors.  Joel did the electrical, canned lights, all the trim on the windows, floor boards, closets, and paint.

AFTER
I still need to get some type of doily, or runner for the night stands.  A few pictures on the dresser but thats about it.
The shutters make such a difference! When they are closed the room stays nice and dark, but when they are open the room feels nice and bright.  We love them.

White bedding is daring especially with little kids, which is why they are not allowed in our room.  I like it to be just mine and Joels space.

Julie and my mom stayed at my house while Joel and I had this baby.  My favorite part of having a baby is the time we get to spend in the hospital together. We eat together in my bed and spoon a little on his couch bed. The kids LOVE Boston. I have to watch Cody close though, one minute its a nice soft kiss and the next he is driving his face into the babies. He is slowly adjusting to the baby. Olivia never had a problem with Cody or Boston, she loves the new addition.
This delivery went quicker. I was started at 7:00 PM and had the baby at 3:12 AM.  I went from a 5 to a 10 in 45 minutes.  It was painful. There was a window on my lower stomach that the epidural didn't work on. Joel slept through it!  I don't blame him though. He had just come off of his 5th 12 hour day in a row.  He woke up to the lights being flipped on and nurses rushing in.  I pushed through 2 or 3 contractions and he was here.  The very first thing I said when I saw him was " He is a big baby!"

Joel's parents came up and visited the first night, and then they drove back up and brought us a shake and fries the next night, along with a sack of baby clothes and blankets of course :)  It was nice to have them there.
My dad drove up on his motorcycle and met up with my mom and Julie the first day. Then took the kids home with them.  My parents and Joels parents watched them.  I felt so grateful for the time my kids got to spend with their grandparents and for the time I got to spend alone with my newborn.

If you want to find Olivia, she is always with the baby.  She really does help me out a lot. Finds his binky and gives it to him, sings to him all the time, and when I am nursing she softly rubs his shoulders the way I do and says "wake up honey honey"

If you want to find Cody, he is always with daddy.  Thank Heavens.  I don't think he has stopped screaming or crying since we brought Boston home.  Poor little guy.

They kinda turn into cave men while Joel is at work. Good thing they play well together.

I am so happy to not be pregnant anymore, I am even more happy to have this beautiful baby home with us.

Olivia turned 4

Olivia loves dress up make up and everything pretty. Her imagination is out of this world.  She entertains herself for hours. Such a blessing for me. I can not believe how good of a helper she has become. The other day I was out picking tomatoes to process.  I look up and here comes Olivia and Cody with buckets.  I have her get Codys jammies on him, she takes out the garbage, and she always wipes up spit up off Bostons face.
When ever Cody is in trouble she will smile at me and say "Mom do you know that I love you" I know she is just sucking up but it calms me down every time.  Cody does it now too.

Next year she starts Kindergarten. She got all of her shots.  I can not believe how loud she screamed, all I could do was laugh.
When Olivia was about 12 months I wondered if I would ever get through a sacrament, EVER.  We worked really hard, and it amazes me how well she does now. We are still working with Cody.  Sundays get pretty crazy because Joel gets up and is gone for meetings which leaves me getting all of us ready myself, then I get to manage them myself while he watches us from the stand.  He assures me we look better than I think.  I at least have my visiting teacher Debbie who sits with us, she has been a life saver.
I hope I never forget how sweet this girl is.  At nights I tell her to wait on her bed until I get Cody down.  She patiently waits. Then I come in and say good night. She says things like "good night kevin"  and "goodnight honey honey" I never hear her get out of bed but in the mornings sometimes I will find a shirt full of grapes in her room or the wrapper to treats, dried up wet wipes wrapped over all her stuffed animals, money in her corners, all kinds of stuff.

3 months

All I have to say about the past 3 months is... I have the perfect baby!  Boston is an Angel.
I was very nervous to be home with 3 kids, but it has been more manageable than I thought.  Don't get me wrong I have been in tears before breakfast is over more than once, and felt like a terrible human being/mom more than 1,000 times but life goes on and you get better at it.

The first night home from the hospital I woke him up after 4 hours to feed him. The next night I waited 5 hours and the third he slept 6 hours and it has only gotten better since then.  He now goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 7-7:30 in the morning.  During the day he takes pretty good naps and when he is awake he is happy and content. Olivia is obsessed with him.  She talks about "when she is a mommy" both her and Cody kiss him non stop.

Olivia and Cody have always really loved bath time.  Boston gets a little anxious.  He spits up a lot but I think it is slowing down.
He eats like a mad man.  One day he was happy with 3oz and the next he wanted 6. Thats the truth.  He looks like he weighs the same as Cody. Ha

Letting the kids (making them) stay outside all day is such a relief for me.  I have been able to keep up with life for the most part because of it, in reality I have been able to spend my day on the phone with my mom and sister :) and maybe have dinner ready. :)
I am learning that little boys are much more sensitive than little girls.  The roles reverse as they grow up but I have to really make time for my little Cody.  He always asks me "you mad at me" "Papa mad at me" "Kate mad at me" and goes down the list of everyone in his life.  His favorite show is the Lorax "Mom I watch the loo lac"   He kisses me a lot, and tells me things like "dress pretty mommy"
Don't get me wrong he is all boy!  When I call him sweetheart, he says "my name no sweetheart, I Cody Clark" He likes tractors, planes, bugs, and DIRT!
This is what you think your kids will look like at Lagoon
This is what they actually look like.
I didn't get a picture of him on the merry go round (sp?) but it was his favorite.  There is a little bear he rode every time. It was always empty because nobody else wanted it. "i ride ma bear"
He carried that flashlight around all day. he kept unscrewing the battery just enough for the light to flicker and he kept saying "it don't work!"  Thats what he says when he can't unzip his jammies, or open the fridge, etc.

Just say it

Olivia and Cody are usually really careful getting in and out of the truck only putting their feet on the mats and not kicking the door  (because I make them). I was putting the baby in the car seat and Olivia was carefully going under the door (because it is a tight squeeze in the garage) she used the door to pull herself forward and flung the door open hitting the wall right were a nail was.  The only nick in the door now.  I was so mad. I said enough choice words to last me for the rest of the year.  We drove to the store in silence. I hear Olivia whisper to Cody

O: Cody say Shit.
C: I dont wanoo
O: just say it
C: (silent) acting a little awkward
O: ya, thats a naughty word!

When we got home Olivia said she was really sorry for hitting the door and she will NEVER do it again.  I wasn't mad at this point and just gave her a kiss.  I felt a lot better when my mom and dad told me it wasn't a big deal :)

Two is not to bad :)

If Cody gets his feelings hurt or if I get upset with him he runs to the corner and cries. Then comes back shortly for consoling.  It makes me laugh every time.
Cody is always hungry. The second he wakes up he is whining " I want oatmeal! cereal?! I want a woll (roll) I want cookies"  Its kinda like those snickers commercials, your not yourself when your hungry.  After breakfast he is happy.
He loves his jammies, and hates when I take them off.  He wants to be wearing his Jammies or "ma Onsie!"
He peed in the toilet for the 1st time the other day. It was so funny, he looked way to little to be sitting on that great big toilet.
I went to get him out of his bed the other day and he was plugging his nose with a discusted look on his face. " I stinky. Change ma diaper"
I feel like I spend my entire day yelling and getting after the kids. They appear to be just fine, so I wont worry to much I guess :)
Cody is always worrying, he asks me "mom you mad at me?" or "you happy?"
"Good night mom, I la loo"

climbing trees

The other day Joel was outside washing the truck, Cody was washing the tires with his hands, and Olivia was washing her bike. I was inside watching, while I feed Boston (and of course on the phone. Sister of choice for that day was Ellie)  Olivia Climbed up the tree and was just singing her little heart out to Pete's Dragon.  So I went out to take her picture and by the time I got out there her mood had shifted quite quickly.  She got pretty nervous because she accidently got to high and couldn't get back down.
This out fit belonged to her cousin Abbi. She gave it to us and Olivia has worn it day in and day out, seriously she sleeps in this thing. She calls it her Belle outfit from Beauty and the Beast.

Once she calmed down she said "oh daddy you saved me!"

Checking on Olivia that night I found about 7 fruit snack wrappers at the foot of her bed. I got really upset with her because she sneaks out so much and takes things. While she was crying she very loudly blurted out "I just love fruit snacks, they're so good!!" It was kinda funny.

An eventful day.

We got all the kids ready and took them in for Boston's Dr appointment which was scheduled for a different day, Grr.  Luckily they squeezed us in.

Olivia was helping Cody get onto the Doctors table and pulled his arm out of the socket. Grr.
He looked so cute coddling his little arm. so sad but so cute. Luckily the Dr just popped it right back into place.  Olivia yelled at her to leave her brother alone!

We came home and feed Boston Cereal for the first time. He is such a little sweety.

While Cody, Boston, and Dad took naps, Olivia and I ran errands.

The man standing behind us at walmart was older, wearing a cowboy hat, wranglers, and boots.  Olivia asked him " Are you a cowboy?" In the lowest voice he said "no" with a smile.  They chatted for awhile and then he gave her 2 quarters and told her to get a treat. Then a second later gave her two more quarters.  Olivia said "wow you must have a lot of money at your house like my grandma!"

he fell twice and hit his lip both times :(

We watched the first snow fall of the season. Short lasted but thats ok.

I found 40 dollars in my closet.
