October and November

At the beginning of October we went down and helped Joel's parents set up their Halloween Decorations and get their yard ready for the winter. While we were there Olivia saw one of Grandmas decorations and said Oh I love this I wish you could make me one! So the next week the kids got a package in the mail with bags of candy and a homemade halloween decoration just for Olivia's window seal, and of course some balls for Cody.
 We made sugar cookies
and of course went Trick or Treating.  I originally painted Olivia's face with the Spider web, yelling the whole time to sit still which she was just excited to see it, She was very disappointed. So we started over with her choice of a kitty.....much better!
We went down to provo for Eve's baby blessing.
Boston is such a little trooper, he's very willing to tag along with whatever we are doing.  His bottom two teeth just broke through!  Olivia is still very obsessed with this boy, she feeds him, holds him, and makes him laugh non stop.
He is very happy to sit and play in his jumper. The other two would last maybe ten minutes, he will sit there for 45 min. and be happy as can be. (Olivia's "tent" she made out of Cody's sheet)

Cody has gone poop in the toilet several times and before he takes his baths he tells me he needs to pee in the toilet first.  I think it is so bizarre how easy he is catching on. It seemed much much harder with Olivia. I feel it a blessing :)
Olivia had her first primary program. Joel's parents came up for it, to bad we couldn't see her :( After church we came out to our truck with a very flat tire. :/

My parents came up and went to the Temple then came over to go to the warren miller movie. They brought coloring books and crayons.
While the boys were gone my mom and I put the kids to bed and I painted her toe nails.  She played ball with Cody and it was the cutest thing. He was throwing them so fast and hard to her, but of course when we tried to show grandpa he was a complete dud. Olivia asked for "a lot of money for her bank" It drives me nuts when she asks for things, but I think I should just not worry so much, both grandparents know the word no, Joel and I got it a lot :)

Night night

I have spent a lot of time sitting on the side of the kids bed just talking and kissing good night. With Cody it has been particular sweet because all he wants to do is have my face right next to his and he wants my head laying on his chest even if I am smooshing him! He will pull my hair around his face and "hide" or tell me I'm pretty or just tease and laugh. I know it is his way of getting me to stay in his room longer and I don't even care! He just puckers and then laughs as I make my way back over to him. When I do leave he says something like " your not going anywhere" or "put your hands in the air" with a finger gun pointed at me. My favorite is a fishy face air kiss :) Such a sweet little memory.

My 28th Thanksgiving!

The day before Thanksgiving was my birthday this year. We packed up the kids and went shopping first. I got a couple of new sweaters and a church skirt. :) Joel was so kind to take all three and walk the mall while I quietly tried on clothes. That all by it's self could have been my present. We picked up some Hickory Farms cheese and sausage, and then saw SANTA!

As we left Olivia yelled back to Santa "I LOVE YOU!" Cody told Santa he wants a Choo Choo  Train, and Olivia wanted Snow White.  She means the movie and a dress, and I know this because it's all I hear about :)  I sure hope Santa thinks they have been good enough to get that cool stuff because they want it BAD.  Cody wants a gun and a Choo Choo, boy does he really want those things!

We made our way back to my moms, and the boys went shooting. When they got back they sang Happy Birthday to me and we ate Kevin's Chocolate Cheesecake! Joel's parents came over and brought a very special present for me. They know I have been eying Kaye's Nativity Scene.  They were kind enough to give me the one she made for Aunt June.  Kaye made and gave it to June the year I was born :)  My mom and sisters went in on a super cute sweat outfit.

That night we stayed at a Hotel. The kids feel asleep the second they hit the pillow. So we turned on the baby monitor and went swimming just the two of us! It was heaven. The next morning Kevin and the kids, Dad, and Jared all came over for breakfast and a swim.  It seemed like everyone had fun. Julie, Olivia, and Abbi stuck together.  Russell and Cody stuck together, and little Boston got passed between Joel and I. He was the most pleasant little thing. He didn't cry once! He just enjoyed the swim!

We all got cleaned up and had a wonderful dinner prepared by mom! Aunt Linda and our neighbor Bill joined us. Cody, Russell, and Kate sat at the little table in the kitchen.  We just ignored the hellashis mess because at least they were quiet.
After dinner we went outside and played in the tree house and tramp. I didn't get any pictures but it got a little crazy......Beau!

One of the nights we had dinner at Joel's parents and spent the evening there.  We let Olivia spend the night with Kaydence.

I can not believe what a nice little boy he is. He has some teeth coming in I assume but he just cuddles and smiles still. He FINALLY started taking a binki!

Drop Kick

Lately ANYTHING Cody can get his hands on he just drop kicks it. I have to admit it is kind of impressive, ha just not when its a $22.00 blush.  When I picked Cody up from nursery all 3 of the leaders where laughing at his drop kicking skills. I guess he was kicking matchbox cars into a bucket repeatedly.  I know all little boys kick balls around and throw baseballs but I secretly hope he keeps the
interest!

This picture is from halloween.  I wanted to add it because Kaye helped me make this stinkin cute boot.  I don't usually love to decorate for each holiday but I did love this one.  She also made the Halloween countdown, AND bought the kids a halloween shirt.  She sure makes the holidays fun for the kids. :)

Joel got a little teary when he was telling me all about when they were little going up to Grandma Carrigan's and Aunt June's for Christmas.  They bought each of the kids a new outfit. There were a lot of kids too!  I think he was feeling grateful for how much his Grandma cared about him and how hard they worked and still works at making homemade food and treats for everyone.  All of us get a birthday card with a little someth$n, someth$n inside.  I thought it was really cute hearing about it.  There really is something special about grandparents.  Lots of love!

This post is pretty Random, ha

Christmas Season 2013

Growing up every Christmas day Joel's family went to Grandma Carrigan's where all the cousins meet and partied. So Joel and I have made a point to go visit grandma close to Christmas.  When we got to Morgan she was out tree shopping so we spent some time at Aunt Dianne's new home and just visited. When Grandma got home Joel helped Uncle Steve put up the tree and the kids LOVED going through all the old Christmas decor and asking "Can I have this?"
The kids really enjoyed helping Grandpa go through all of his moms old ornaments that she collected while she traveled.

For the Hoellein's Christmas party we boarded the Front Runner and went to build-a-bear.  How cute are these?!
Julie and Landon drove down from Missouri which was really special because I am sure they will not always be able to.  So Emily, my mom, Julie, and I THOUGHT it would be fun to get on the Front Runner and have Ruby pick us up. It took a little longer, it was a little colder than we thought, and we ended up waiting for the last train outside in the freezing for an hour. :/  Good thing Landon and Joel were home watching the younger kids! ( and Aunt Amber! Thanks again :) )

BUT, While we were there it was fun! Ellie so kindly let us use her salon and we got everyone's bangs trimmed, Julie's hair cut, and mostly talked.
The Griffiths' family party was the Sunday before Christmas.  We had musical numbers, food, and presents. Julie and Landon's family dressed in sombreros, mustaches, ponchos, and sang feliz navidad. I wish I had pictures but I don't :(  Olivia stood up on a stool and sang Long time ago in Bethlehem, totally melted my heart.

Joel had several days off before Christmas so we baked, played in the snow, and just enjoyed being home.

Tubing

For Ruby's birthday we met at mom and dads and went tubing.  It turned out to be VERY eventful!!

In my mind this is kind of an Iconic photo.  Seeing my parents "outfit" with the camp chef out.  I like seeing my "outfit" there too :)

Olivia had the runs.  There were no bathrooms so I took her behind the snow bank and made her do her hot steamy business.  We repeated that probably 4 times.

Lo and behold poor Abby was experiencing the same painful experience.  She didn't fare as well, neither did her snowsuit.  Nobody really wanted to sled with Abby after that. :(

Cody and Chad were tubbing together and rolled.  Cody's poor little face got the blunt end of the rolling.

Yes I did cry. The only thing that made Cody feel better was a king size nut roll!

Since the beginning of the year we have been doing just nothing.  It has been fantastic.  We have a nice routine down.

 Cousins hiding in a closet.

Joel wakes this kid up to play when he gets home from work.  I can't blame him, Boston really has stolen our hearts!

She found a way to occupy herself while dad did yard work!  This is exactly the reason Joel and I do not let the kids play with Iphones and Ipads.  We want them to be able to play with rope and logs of wood.  Don't take offense if your children love their Iwhatever it's just my opinion.

Cleaning Windows

Today I cleaned all of my windows.  I always think about my mom when I do it.  I think about her being my age when I was a baby cleaning her own windows.  I think about cleaning with her when I was a teenager. Most importantly I think about the next visit from her and her happily stating how good my windows look.  Pure satisfaction for me :)

My Aunt Patsy made this Blanket.
I put my little Boston on a Blanket and he happily stayed on it the whole time.  I couldn' believe it. I'm not sure if he didn't realize he could just...crawl off, or if he just didn't want to touch the grass.  Probably the grass.

Olivia and Cody played with the chicks and helped the neighbor Jack pick up pods.  They really didn't help they said "Can we help" and then chatted his head off.

This morning I got up and got us all ready so we could go into town and get a few things taken care of so when Joel gets home we can just relax. I also wanted to reward Cody since he has been pooping in the toilet.  So first stop was Temptation Cupcake.  On our way I could hear Boston Grunting and then I could smell what was going on :/.  So before we went in I layed him on the driver seat. Grabbed a diaper and realized I was out of wipes. So I grabbed one of those wipes for your cars they give you at the car wash. I never use them so I had several. As I am trying to change this very runny diaper, Boston grabs at his diaper area and gets poop all over his hand then he quickly grabs his foot. So I'm yelling at Olivia to hurry and open me a new wipe. Then Boston Pees. Poor thing got his face, shirt, and my car seat. All the wipes had dried up and were basically useless. So I did the best I could and put a smile on my face and headed in.

Then we dropped off dry cleaning, picked up a movie for Joel and I, then headed to the mall to get Cody a new Sunday belt.  When we got there I let the kids play on the toys.  The first thing some kid said to Cody was "if your poopy than you can't play". I ignored it because I knew I didn't have any wipes and well..... It could wait. After playing for thirty minutes we got the belt and went home. When I got home and brought the kids all in for a good wipe down, I see that Cody had a blow out top and bottom. It was even in his shoe. Yikes. The kids are now all clean and napping. Mom fail for sure. Not a proud moment. The cupcakes were amazing though.

Spagetti

The other day I asked the kids what we should have for dinner and Olivia yells "SPAGHETTI" and Cody added "Ya, GETTI" So I got all the goods to make it and thats what we had.

Boston and Dad were both taking much needed naps while I had the kids help me.  My favorite time to make dinner is right after we do breakfast dishes.  The kids are the happiest and by the end of the day I usually feel to tired, or run out of time.  So I start cutting the onion and Olivia says "Why do my eyes hurt? I kinda feel like crying" As she cries quietly because of the napping household.  I told her it was the onion burning her eyes. Cody says curiously, "onion burns ya eyes?!" As I confirm and look at him he has a raw tiny cube of onion closed into his eye.  Yup that will do it.  He tried keeping quiet while crying too, but being just 2 he was pretty loud, and that was ok.
Next I was doing the meat and said this is a mommy job, keep your hands away from the meat.  I turned around to put a knife away and hear Cody talking about washing his hands, yup, in the blood from the turkey.  So I am whisper yelling all about cross contamination, and getting the runs.  As they both sit there red and puffy eyed Olivia says somberly "I guess we will have a good time eating this dinner"
Later Olivia said "I love spaghetti, did your grandma (my mom) ever make you something special?" which is funny because I remember my mom asking me what I wanted for dinner and I told her spaghetti was my favorite, and I remember helping her make it, running to the basement to get the sauce.  She told me the story about when I was just probably Cody's age and we had spaghetti, I took a wash cloth and wiped every noodle because I didn't want the sauce.

So even though it was a little stressful letting their little hands help it was fun and I think we all enjoyed it, red eyed and all.  When we did the dishes and wiped up the floor, Cody was dieing for me to hold him, so I stopped cleaning and held him while he pretended to fall asleep and I twirled him, while Olivia laughed because my robe tie hit her in the face each time I twirled.  I just love the feeling of their little bodies wrapped around yours and his cool to the touch cheeks on mine.  Little kids are so flipping exhausting, but those little sweet moments, and comments make it so worth it.  I don't always stop and hold them when they want me to, in fact I usually don't.  I was talking on the phone with my dad feeling guilty as heck for loosing my temper so easily and so often with my kids and he reassured me that you get after them when they need it because they need it, but then you love them even more. Good advice from a seasoned parent.  Thanks Dad.

This spring we put Boston to bed and had a little hotdog roast.  My parents facetimed us while we were getting started and it was fun they got to see what we were up too!

We recruited the neighbors grandkids who were visiting. It made it a lot of fun for our kids.  While Joel and I cleaned up they all played hide and seek.

I can't believe my Boston Wade is one!! I have said it a million times, he is my angel baby.  He has slept through the night since day......5ish. He naps when I lay him down for naps, he cuddles (with me;)) and just goes with the flow.  He eats anything and everything! At his one year appointment he weighed 21lbs and Cody was 26lbs.  He is my big boy.

He surprised me when he learned on his own to crawl up the stairs and then again when he learned on his own to crawl down the stairs.

4th of July aka Disaster Zone

Joel worked this Fourth of July. I knew it would be hard to go do anything with all three kids myself, but when Ellie invited me to come party I thought I would put on my big girl panties and go do something fun.  Those panties might not have been big enough for the weekend ahead of them.

My parents always advise us to keep your cars full of gas, it's a good practice.  I figured I would have enough.  I was out of gas by south SLC.  I pulled off the freeway and figured I would use my navigation on my phone to get back on. Cell phone couldn't find a connection, I ended up crying at a Walgreens where two men directed me to I80 East, which was not I15 South.  My phone started working and I finally made it! Yes, I always pulled over when trying to use my phone!

We met up at Rubys, ran errands, talked, had pizza for dinner, put the kids to bed, ate candy and soda, then packed the kids up and put them back to bed at Ellie's. We talked and ate some more then went to bed.

We got up early and went to the Parade. It was actually really fun. We sweat soo much!  When we got home we all laid on the front room floor and nap for an hour and a half, and then went to Ruby's.

We hung out with Grandma and Grandpa and all the cousins and Ruby put on a very tasty BBQ.  Olivia felt sick, and threw up a couple times so she stayed with Ruby while some of us went to the fireworks.

When we got to the fireworks, Cody threw up, then Ellie pooped her pants, Cody threw up some more, then Beau stepped in it, with no shoes on! Beau and Emily stayed for fireworks while Ellie, Jared and I packed up the kids, with ALL of our blankets, drinks and STUFF and decided since it was probably dehydration we were safe to party back at Ruby's.  Baby Julie, Shari, Olivia, Cody, and Ellie were up all night taking turns crapping and throwing up.  Ellie ended up in the ER getting an IV.  She was in BAD shape.
The next morning, I cleaned the bathrooms, started the laundry, packed up my kids and came home. That was a Brutal drive.  The kids slept the whole way home,  then we all napped from 1-5, while Joel and Dad went four wheeling.  Dad, Ruby, and Jackson, now have the bug.  Im sure this is not the end of it.  This weekend actually was a LOT of fun, a LOT of work, and a LOT of stinky stuff.
This little BW took big naps for me, was content to play on the floor by my feet, and slept through all projectile night.
